Moroccan Sandwich Recipe – Street Food from Marrakech

When visiting a country it is highly recommended to eat as the locals. They will point you in the right direction as to where to get the most authentic and extremely delicious meals of their home country; hence a classic Moroccan sandwich being one of them. It is said that the Moroccan cuisine, especially street food, is by far one of the best experiences you will have! MOROCCAN SANDWICH RECIPE INGREDIENTS
for 6 servings
500g minced beef
1 red onion, chopped
2cm ginger, freshly grated
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
½ bunch fresh coriander, chopped
6 Moroccan flat bread / pita bread
2 tsp Ras el Hanout
1 red onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, diced
1 cucumber, diced
1 bunch of parsley, chopped
6 tbsp olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
salt and pepper
6 tbsp Greek yogurt
6 tbsp harissa paste
- Start by mixing the minced beef with onion, harissa, cumin, coriander, ginger and fresh coriander.
- Season with salt and pepper and knead well. Next, shape 20 balls out of the minced beef and refrigerate for a while.
- Mix tomatoes, onion, cucumber and parsley with olive oil and lemon juice and season with salt and pepper.
Fry meatballs in a pan with some olive oil. Heat up one Moroccan flat bread after another, cut them and coat the inside with 1 tbsp harissa paste and yogurt.
Distribute meatballs and tomato salad on the Moroccan flat bread and serve.
